I am currently reading “The Untethered Soul” by Michael A. Singer. I am only a few chapters in, but I have already been seriously impacted by the profoundness of his analysis of the human soul. He cleverly explains the effects of negative energy stored in the body…this is what I would like to share with you.
Isn’t it strange how we immortalize sad or hurtful experiences through our senses? For example, the scent of an ex boyfriend’s cologne, or the song that you used to listen to together stirs up those negative feelings as vividly as they were originally experienced. Singer brillantly describes this reaction as the recurrence of negative energy in the body. I had a very sad breakup a few years back and never allowed the pain and the sad memory to release. That is, I never embraced the experience and allowed for its peaceful escape from my soul. Instead, in an effort to protect myself from pain and regret, I burried the sadness deep within myself. What resulted was the reawakening of the memory everytime I heard a certain song, smelled a certain smell or even tasted certain foods. Singer explains that in burrying the negative energy, we allow it to act a stopper. This stopper prevents any good and positive energy from making its way into our souls everytime it is brought to the surface.
What the author suggests is simple in theory, but challenging in practice. Singer suggests we release the negative energy. We must acknowledge its presence and embrace it in order for it to be released. Focus on the departure of the negative feeling from your body and visualize the arrival of positive feelings flooding your consciousness.
To make way for positive energy, you must release the negative energy. Let the bad feelings and thoughts flow through you without resistance. Left still and they will only block the positive energy and love from making its way in.
