Personal Growth and Development

“Formal education will make you a living, self-education will make you a fortune.” -Jim Rohn

I absolutely love this quote by the late Jim Rohn. I have had the good fortune of formal education as well as self-education. I can tell you that Jim Rohn sure knew his stuff. I went to university to become a teacher. I did not have a passion for teaching, nor did I particularly like working on somebody’s else’s schedule. However, I was taught as a young girl to go to school and get a good job. It was not until I started to immerse myself into Personal Development did I truly feel like a spark had been ignited deep down in my belly. All of the thoughts that I had pushed away, thinking they were too whimsical or unattainable, now came back to the surface. Self-education has opened up a vault inside of me that was housing all of my amazing goals and desires that I had for my life. It unleashed a power that allowed me to take control and be on purpose in my day to day.

We all have the right to dictate our fate. It is in the choices that we make everyday in every situation. If you do not like where you are, perhaps it is time to examine your thinking and shift your mindset. It is, after all, you and nobody else that has put you in your current circumstance. That, to me, has an infinite power. It is amazing to realize that we have complete say over what our lives will unfold with. Unexpected things do occur, however, we have complete awareness as to how we decide to react. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

While I do place tremendous value on formal education, I do not believe that it completes the picture. If you are formally educated, congratulations! You can read, write and do an array of other amazing things that allow you to co-exist. Self-education will give you wings, free you from your worst thinking, and truly allow you to see that anything is possible!
